Mojo Opening Party!

“To celebrate the moving in to our new studio and also the upcoming Christmas, we had a mini opening party where we invited all our friends, partners and clients to join us for a night of food, drinks and merry-making. The highlight of the night was the live music performance, led by our very talented intern and his very own band! Check out more photos on MOJO’s Facebook Group. ”  - http://mojo.sg/news.html

Not a big fan of chris brown but when i first saw this video from cgarena, i was like wow. So much work and effort is put into the morphing of the cars/tanks etc and all the visual effects in the music videos nowadays.

Cant help but laughed when a bunch of ninjas started dancing in the middle of the music video.

The Nabokov Collection

“Every so often, a dream project lands on your desk. Here’s one: redesign Vladimir Nabokov’s book covers. All twenty-one of them. Let me rephrase. Every so often the most daunting project of your entire life arrives on your desk. ” -John Gall

Better or Worse?

Just saw this interesting rebrand of msn from adgoodness. Somehow, i think the new typeface lack that bit of warmth that gives a more personal feel the previously logo had.

Any Comments/Views/Thoughts/Opinions/Observations?

The Future Of After Effects?

Recently, i’ve seen a piece of interesting news from Michael Coleman’s blog that i think has got many people excited.

“Today we are announcing that the next version of Adobe After Effects will be a native 64-bit application.”

yes, its true, meaning the next version of After Effects CS5 will only run on 64-bit system. And so firstly:

What is 64-bit and what is the difference?

It might be confusing at first but the main difference is the increased address space to address more memory. Today’s 32-bit intel and AMD chips can address up to 4GB of ram. In Windows-based machines, that 4GB is split between the operating system and the applications. That means the most memory any given application(eg, after effects) can access is 2GB.

A 64-bit processor, on the other hand, can address up to 16 exabytes of memory (that’s over 16 billion gigabytes)

And so… How does it concern me?

With 64-bit, you will be able to take advantage of all those ram. Meaning

  • After Effects CS5 will be blazing fast.
  • The ability to render layers of high resolution comps without running out of memory and errors. (yay!)
  • Longer Ram Preview.
  • The ability to run all the apps(eg. After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) at the same time without slowing down.
  • The capacity to handle any resolution your clients request as more and more productions are shooting high-resolution RAW content.
  • Lots and lots of new possibilities.

How do i upgrade to a 64-bit system?

I won’t go into the details but the majority of CPUs built in the last three years can run 64-bit systems. Mostly likely, a memory upgrade is all that is needed to realize the benefits of 64-bit.

Some Type Of Wonderful 2010

Awesome artwork of this year’s Some Type Of Wonderful now on available online.

Check out the rest of the prints here.

“Some Type of Wonderful is a global typographic initiative conceived by Lifelounge in 2008 to showcase the best of the world’s creative talent across the realms of art, design and illustration. Each year 12 artists are selected for their unique approach to the craft and are given an individual typographic design brief based around a month of the year. The artist is asked to interpret the brief in a way that typographically represents what that month specifically means to them. How abstract or literal the interpretation is completely up to them.”
